Motels are a fairly sized two-story building found in all towns the player stops by during their trip. It is marked by a large neon sign that says "Motel". Outside in front of the Motels are a parking spot for the player's Laika, a picnic table, and a trash container.

The interior consists of a lobby (containing a check-in counter, a sign listing the price (which will increase as your journey continues), and a table with a newspaper and a paper cup), and five bedrooms; two on the first floor and three on the second floor. These rooms are labeled first with a 1 or a 2 to indicate the floor, and either A, B, or C to denote which room it is on the specific floor. Each room's layout is identical, and is quite simple, consisting of a bathroom and 2 beds (typical in an early post-Cold War era in places such as Germany). Sleeping in one of these beds will save the game while Uncle sleeps in the other.

To acquire a room, enter the Motel with your wallet. The cashier will state the price of the room, which ranges from 20 to 40. Then, use the wallet on the sheet of paper directly below the cashier. Assuming you have enough money, you will be charged the price for the room, and she will hold out a key for you to grab.

Despite being told not to disturb other patrons, it is recommended to knock on all the doors before going to bed or after waking up, depending on whether the player just arrived for the night or if the player just loaded their save. (Room patrons are randomized again at the same motel when a save is loaded.) Some guests will mistake you for the receptionist and slide money under the door.

After sleeping, any items outside of your car will de-spawn (except for store items).
